it's like dirt grapes. Except we don't taste awful.

You Fly on BROOMS?

"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"

Who is the IQA?

Really. and we’re totally serious.

UVic Quidditch was started November 2010 when Sam and Anna from the Community ResLife team put together a quidditch match as a part of a Harry Potter weekend to celebrate the first Deathly Hallows movie. After some intense googling, the IQA was discovered and it was decided that we’d hold weekly quidditch matches and start a club. That first semester of the UVic quidditch club was small, muddy and brilliant.

Over the summer those dedicated convened over Facebook and decided that though small and clueless, not even knowing the full breadth of the rules or how to organize anything, they decided that they’d get into the world cup. They got a grant from clubs council to pay for their IQA dues, and they sent in an application for the big tournament.

The first week of Fall 2011 at UVic was as intense as ever. After a breif meeting over drinks, the seniors plotted the semester. Orientation, Presidents Day, Clubs Days, Thunderfest, Rookie Party, World Cup.

Orientation gave each tour group passing through the campus a chance to play Quidditch. Test out the sport and the feel of a broom between your legs. Presidents Day continued the chaos as students came for free food and found themselves flying across the field. Clubs Days we gathered 200 names onto our emailing list. Thunderfest we seeked throughout the games and fun, the snitch running in and out between students enjoying the Vikes Rec festivities.

Rookie Party brought together approximately 30 new members dressed to the nine and divided into hogwarts houses and led by their intrepid 8 senior members. The first Victoria quidditch photo- scavenger hunt took place. Quaffle Waffles were ate, and drinks were bought. Stuff got crazy, and the team bonded.

October Fifth UVic Quidditch Club was interviewed and aired on CTV’s 5 o’clock news. We rocked and the news of the Quidditch club at the UNiversity of Victoria, spread like wildfire.

Now, 34 days until the Fifth Annual Quidditch World Cup, the Club is ordering Jerseys, Fundraising, looking for grants and sponsers, and practicing like there was no other purpose in life.

Tumblr…. I introduce to you, the UVic Quidditch Club.
